Life Update from Sam - April

What a month it has been, wrong dates, seaside trips and a covid positive test…

Firstly, I have to apologise for not posting a lot recently, it has been one hell of a month. Which has meant that I just haven’t had enough time to create and schedule content for my own pages. Putting my clients first is the main thing and after that time has been an issue.

Firstly, my health has not been tip top recently. I have had chest pains over the past couple of months, which initially really worried me. It took a long time to find out the cause of the issue which caused anxiety, however I’m happy to say it was just inflammation… phew. I’ve also suffered with mental health issues, including low mood.

Myself and my wife decided that a nice trip to London to watch two shows in one day, might just be the ticket. So everything was booked, we got a hotel in the centre of London and headed down early on a Wednesday morning to be at the theatre for our first show Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella.

We headed to join the queue for the show, we got to the door had the ticket ready to be scanned… it failed. Wow, that’s weird, try again, nope not working, so they looked at the ticket… it’s not Wednesday 15th June… we’d booked the wrong day!

It's okay, we thought, we have a second show to enjoy ‘Straight Line Crazy’ with Ralph Fiennes, about the designer of the grid system in New York. So we look at those tickets, oops, they are also for the 15th June. So a trip to London for no reason, I don’t hate London but I hate crowds and busy places and I think those two things epitomise London…

What can we do now we say to each other, it is suggested by a friend that we go to Leicester square and see if we can get tickets to another show for a good price. So we head there and have a look, Myself and my wife have different ideas of good shows. I love a comedy, the more jokes the better I say, whereas my wife is a bit more refined, some may say more grown up? Not me though.

So we whittled the many shows down to two, Matilda and Wicked, neither of us have seen either, great success. We ask the prices of both shows and decide Wicked is the better choice, so we go for that one.

Feeling a bit better about our trip to London we head to the M&M world on Leicester Square. I’m not sure the reason for this decision, possibly the search for endorphins but we decided both to get bags of pick and mix M&Ms. I tried to figure out the difference between each colour.. evidently there isn’t really one. I went a bit more bold and went for the different fillings, peanuts, brownie and salted caramel.

Our search for endorphins worked as we left the shop feeling much better about ourselves, with a big dent in our joint account. We then headed over to the Lego shop opposite, and had a look around but luckily for our aforementioned joint account, nothing took our fancy.

We then went to see Wicked which was really good, we both enjoyed it.

I then spent a few days working, talking to clients new and old, including doing consultancy work for Roger at Goodwin Property who I helped find an overseas assistant to run their marketing. I have also been asked by my wife Meg Thornton Photography to create a social media analysis and strategy for her photography business.

The week after our London trip, we took a trip to Blackpool to see my favourite band Bowling For Soup, we of course had fish and chips before the gig. We then spent an extra day at the seaside where we went to the SeaLife centre. We decided a trip to the seaside is not complete without a bag of donuts looking out to the sea…

Me and my wife, are a bit different when eating food, I have an asbestos mouth so love to eat food just as it’s come out of the fryer, whereas Meg likes to let it cool down a little (some would say like a normal person?). So we decided I would eat my donuts and then pass the bag to her. Well… I think I may have teased the seagulls a little bit by putting a donut in front of Meg’s face while taking a picture.

Meg took the bag, and preceded to take a nice sugary treat out of the bag, she starts enjoying the donut. But then we feel a gust of wind and feathers and look back at Meg’s hand to see the donut had gone. A seagull had stolen her donut. Well that ruined the whole thing a little bit, so we walked back to the car in a bad mood and made our way home.

The next day I had a few online meetings but noticed that I was starting to cough. So not wanting to spread anything, I decided to do a covid test. Thankfully, I was fully vaccinated because there were the two lines saying I was positive. Somehow up to this point throughout the pandemic, I had managed to swerve the virus.

So all our Easter plans were cancelled… I tested negative on Monday 18th April. Meg is still testing negative and hasn’t had it yet (fingers crossed) which is a miracle.

I hope you liked this blog, it is a bit different to my normal content. So if you want more blogs like this, please let me know.
